Finnish psyche/prog folk music group Aalto is releasing their second album Ikaro on February 14th via Uulu Records. The album consists of 8 tracks of the group's own material and it provides a fresh and forward-thinking view on folk music.
Aalto combines traditional influences from various cultures with psychedelic and experimental sensibilities. This brings a very unique twist to the band's music. You can find hints of Indian ragas, Tuvian throat singing and some Scandinavian sounds as well as influences from bands like Gong, King Crimson and Pentangle in Aalto's works. However the aim is not to try to be as exotic as possible but simply to make beautiful and unique music.
